Getting to Know the City

Minnie had been in Aurora for a while, but she had never gotten to know the underground train system. Thinking it through strategically, she felt it would be a good resource in the future, possibly even a weapon to use against the shadows.

The girl had chosen, possibly unwisely, a time later in the day, towards six in the evening, to examine the subway tunnels. She paused briefly at the top of the steps that led down onto the platform before pressing onward, descending into the darkness with her bow in hand. Any other shadows down there would never know what hit them.

Of course, shadows had night vision and she didn't.
"What is wrong with her?" fretted Alice to herself. This girl liked to risk her life for the sake of exploration. Alice stopped at the subway stairs, leading into the darkness. "No, no, no! I am not going in there!" she said aloud, puffing her cheeks out in exasperation.

As Minnie descended, she could hear a faint hum from below. This nearly made her turn back, but she remembered that she could handle a bow and an arrow. The shadows, if taken on one-by-one, would be no match for her.

The instant her foot touched the platform, however, the humming stopped. Slowly, Minnie pulled an arrow and prepared it. She took a couple of tentative steps into the darkness, but something sent a shiver down her spine, causing her to stop moving. She looked side to side. Then, out of nowhere, two nightcrawlers leapt from the darkness, causing her to scream in shock and let loose one arrow, which shot off into the nothingness.

Alice heard the scream, which made her jump. "Oh dammit!" she huffed, and raced in, knives in hand.

Minnie had managed to kick the nightcrawlers off to buy herself more time, but she only got one of them with the arrow she fired. She heard something coming down the steps, and when she turned, a wave of relief rushed through her. There was Alice, weapons in hand. Minnie prepared to fire another arrow, but the nightcrawler was upon her, making it impossible for her to reach for another arrow.

Shnk!
A blade went through the air, and right through the head of a nightcrawler. It died. "Dammit. It is too dark down here." she hissed, realising she wouldn't be able to find the blade. She started stabbing.

Minnie kicked the nightcrawler off of her, drawing another arrow and shooting at the monster that had nearly claimed her life. She loaded another arrow and shot blindly towards where Alice stood; a hissing sound told her she had hit a shadow.


OoC: Infinite arrows. Seems legit.

"Hey! Watch it!" snapped the girl. She finished the last nightcrawler, stepping back to dodge a swing from the claws and stabbing it in the face. "Now help me find my blade..." she fretted. "Do you have a flashlight?"

"No, but I have this." Minnie reached for her wrist, pressed a button on the tiny watch there, and shined it in the direction Alice was. "Where did you drop it?" she asked.

"Over...here." she walked down the stairs a little, finding the glinting blade. She took it, and put it in it's holster with a Click!
"Great. Now let's go." said Alice, walking up the stairs and tugging on her sleeve.

Minnie followed Alice with no hesitation, not even bothering to look back as they ascended the stairs.
