The Wonders of the Hotel

Aleks walked up to it, looking at the massive structure. He had only been to the lobby, where in the bathroom he found the note leading them to the supermarket. He wanted to explore the place more...
He had warned the people of the group. He wondered if any followed him here.

Morose crept across the roof of the hotel, looking down to see who she had been following. What does he see in this old dump...? she asked herself as she watched him

Aleks opened the door, it making a creak as he stared into the blackness of the lobby. He pushed the gruesome scene of blood and gore that it held from his mind, and tried to locate the stairs.

Well, instead of one of the group members following Aleks into the hotel, it was little ole Reina who had still been living in the house down one of the several streets in the town where she had run into both Zex and Morose where she had been living on bread and water for the past few days. After eating stale white sandwich bread for every meal ever day, it kind of started to get sickening. So much so that she could barely eat anymore. She had to basically force it down her throat just so she wouldn't go hungry... even though the water was always refreshing. So, after finally getting off of her lazy butt, Reina decided she was going to do something about her predicament and go in search of more food, but all she found while out and about was a young man walking through the front doors of what seemed to be a hotel, yet it had a haunting aura about it. Reina wasn't exactly one to believe in that sort of thing--the auras and such-- yet with the shadows lurking around almost every corner, she wasn't exactly sure what she could believe anymore. But, this boy looked and acted like another human and she wanted to make sure. Maybe he lived somewhere and lived on possibly Kraft Mac n' Cheese instead of her monotonous dinners. With her hand resting on her hip, she slipped through the doors of the hotel where she stopped in the lobby. She had seen some pretty gruesome sights, but this almost made the top of her list. "This place is disgusting," She said with a wrinkle in her nose, acting as if she actually knew Aleks.

Aleks expected if he was to hear a random voice, he would hear one of the people he knew. Though, the voice from behind was foreign to him. Fearing it was a halfblood, Aleks made a deep sigh, turning slowly. Though, some freak of nature didn't stand before him. A regular looking girl was looking at him instead. She had shoulder length blue black hair and equally smokey blue eyes. Aleks blinked. "You're human, correct?" he asked, making sure. As far as he knew, haflbloods had to have some abnormal satanic looking feature, but he was just making sure. Maybe there was a shapeshifting shadow.

By the time that Aleks had turned around to face her, Reina was holding her nose between her thumb and index finger. The smell of the gore that lay about the lobby had finally gotten to her to where she couldn't take it anymore. Blinking at the boy, she nodded as best as she could without having to remover her fingers. "Yeah," She replied simply. "And you're not a shadow, correct? Because then we would have a strange situation here..." As one hang plugged her nostrils, the other sat lightly on her hip just in case she had to whip out one of her revolvers real quick. They still might not have been the greatest weapon she could have chosen, but when resources in weaponry were rather limited back in the other town, it was the best she could do and it seemed to be rather effective so far, but if this kid was a shadow, she didn't know how she would be able to handle it.

Aleks smiled, pulling out his machete. He realized this may provoke her, so he used slower motions to bring the machete to his finger. He made a cut, and held it up to her. Velvet blood seemed to wrap around the finger and down to the back of his hand, where it plipped down. "Shadows, nor halfbloods, bleed red." he said calmly.

Reina made something similar to Obama's "not bad" face before turning it into a curious grin. "Well that makes thins much clearer now," She told him as she suddenly started searching around her body for something. If he had proven that he wasn't a shadow or half-blood in some BA way, then she felt that she would have to prove herself to him in some similar way. But instead of cutting herself like a bauss without anything, including a cringe, she found one of the fresher scabs from a cut she had gotten from a shadow and picked at it until it bled. Of course, it was the average red. "There. Now I have proven that I'm not a shadow or half-blood to you. Maybe not in an awesome way like you did, but it's better than nothing," Reina said with a slight, cheerful laugh which seemed oddly out of place in the grim and dark lobby of the hotel.

Aleks let out an "eugh", but with amusement. "Well, now Reina. Now that we have proven that we likely won't kill each other, shall we explore?" he asked, motioning to a door. It led to the staircase, for it would be idiotic to try the elevator.

Reina nodded with a smile as she grabbed one of the two guns that hung at her sides and carefully started up the stairs. This hotel was already a strange place, and she was sure that the stair well was going to hold some surprising sights. If there wasn't anything, she was going to be surprised. After climbing a few stairs and confident that Aleks was following, she glanced back slightly. "So... Come here often?" She asked, trying to make conversation as they explored the lovely darkness that was the stairs.

Aleks almost snorted at her attempt as they marched up the steps. "Nope. I've always had a nack for exploring places, though, and I found a note in the lobby that led me to my current home--" he stopped talking, realizing this was a human he was talking to. "I can lead you there! After we go through here, of course. We have shelf-loads of food, and there are around half a dozen of us."
He now had his machete held out in front of him. It had become sort of a thing; he holding his machete out and slashing automatically at any foreign movement.

The blue-headed girl stopped suddenly as she heard the words "food" and "dozen of us." Was this a dream? It had to be. Surely there weren't that many survivors in this one little town. "Wait, there are more than just a few of you? Wow, why couldn't I have found this place sooner?" She asked as she turned around and faced him. "And pleeaase tell me that you have food other than bread. I've been eating that for weeks and I can't stand the taste anymore." It was obvious that she needed some kind of change in her life for her eyes were suddenly lit up with a new fire: excitement and optimism.

Aleks opened the door to floor 2, grinning more than he had ever since the start of the apocalypse. "Leet's just say, it is a supermarker." he said, standing beside the door as if saying: "Ladies First!"

Reina was about to squeal in excitement and anticipation of being able to live at such a place when Aleks opened the door to the second floor. Then, she immediately shut herself up in preparation of what they might see. Giving Aleks a nervous glance, she quietly stepped into the hallway of the hotel, gripping onto her revolver almost as tight as she could. She had no idea why they were here exploring when both of them could be back in an awesome supermarket with good food and a variety of drinks. Not to mention the junk food she'd be able to find. Oh, how she missed Cheetos with a passion-- She suddenly stopped day dreaming and looked back at the boy she was with, giving him a quizzical look. "So is there really any purpose as to why we are here? Or are we just simply looking around?" She asked curiously.

"The lobby of this place gave me the greatest citadel in town. If we go up a few floors, who knows what kind of secrets, weapons, supplies, and stuff we can find." explained Aleks. He then blinked. "If you don't want to continue, we can go though." he said. Though, there was something in his voice. It was slight, and almost unnoticable, but it sounded like he was....teasing her. Or challenging. It was cut off though as a hunter burst out of a supply closet, splinters of wood showering the ground. It smelled them, all right. Growling with hunger, it bounded towards them, and jumped at Aleks. He had been through fights with these things too much, though, to falter. As it jumped, he stepped forward, thrusting his machete right through the beast's mouth. It stuck through it's head, and it disappeared in a cloud of purple smoke and black blood. Aleks sighed. "I hate those things." he murmured, his front now splattered with the blood.

Reina stared at him as the hunter suddenly poofed away. This guy was good; definitely better than she was. Yet, when she was carrying two guns she barely knew how to use, let alone aim properly, it wasn't very hard to overdo her. "Wow," She said simply since she wasn't even able to really lift her gun and take aim by the time that Aleks had the thing dead. "Yeah. Let's keep going." By this time, Reina just wanted some kind of adventure and she thought that between the two of them, shadows wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Room 201.
Aleks opened the creaky door, wincing at the stench before him. The skeletal remains of a person sat on a leather recliner. He (or she) was facing a large television. In blood, the words: "THERE IS NO GOD" were sprawled across the screen.
"Eugh" was the sound Aleks made at the scene. He, nevertheless, put his shirt over his nose and grabbed a bandage gauge from the table, continuing his search.

Copying what Aleks did, Reina walked in, trying to avoid the remains of the person that had been staying in this lovely room whose beauty was covered up by blood... and gore... yeah, it was no longer pretty, but she was sure that there was stuff in here that could help. From some of her experiences, usually the houses-- or in this case hotel rooms-- with the least showing usually hold the most. Although with it being in a hotel, she wasn't sure how many survival tools a person would bring with them. Either way, Reina moved along the room so that she was on the opposite site of where Aleks was, starting her search through the drawers of the dressers and in the nightstands. Of course, as usual, in the nightstand was a regular bible, but in the dresser was a small flash light. "This might come in handy," She said to herself as she made sure it had a light bulb and working batteries.

Aleks turned to see what she had. He smiled. "In a dark city like this, of course!" he said. He was reminded of the blackout. The supermarket was the only place with working electricity he knew. "Try to find batteries." he said, stuffing some rubbing alcohol into his pocket. He suddenly, though, found a knife in the desk drawer. It didn't look like it was made for combat, but Aleks tried bending the blade. He smacked it on the table a few times.,This wasn't your everyday kitchen knife.
"Hey." he said. "If you aren't comfortable with those guns, this should be a decent defensive." he said, holding up the dirty blade. "It could use a cleaning, and maybe a sharpening, but it is a durable little bastard."

Reina suddenly turned around from studying her new little friend the flashlight to glancing at the blade that was sitting in Aleks's hands. "That would be awesome!" She exclaimed as she practically skipped over to the dark-haired boy, carefully removing the knife from his hands so that she could hold it in her open hand. Man, Aleks was right. The blade looked extremely dull and covered in dust and dirt. It definitely wasn't ready to use right now, but Reina already felt safer simply with it in her possession. "Yep. I think I just found myself a new weapon! Or.. you found me a new weapon. Obviously only to be used as a back-up. Eh, it will do!" She grinned as she tried to think of a place to put it so that it was out of the way.

Aleks surpressed a silent laugh, but it was interrupted as a tall ghost-like shadow, a Wanderer, appeared behind Reina. They were devious silent shadows known for sneaking up and completely sucking the like out of a victim. Of course, it takes at least five minutes, but the victim cannot move during it.
Aleks rose his machete as the Wanderer touched Reina's back, enveloping her in a green aura.

Of course, Reina was too focused on trying to find some place to put the knife so she wouldn't stab herself with it when the lovely creepy shadow decided to sneak up behind her without a single flipping sound and try to suck the life right out of her. It all happened so fast. One moment she was moving around carelessly and the next, fear struck through her as she felt the ghostly touch of the Wanderer scrape slightly across her back until it stopped on one single point and started to pull. But pull on what? That's when her simple fear turned to horror. As she tried to move away from this awful creature, she found that she couldn't move at all. Not a single muscle and that the pulling wasn't physical. Desperately trying to free herself from the situation and ultimately failing, all she could think about was this new kid she had met standing right there who was the only one who could save her at this point, and she hoped that he wasn't going to betray her now.

Aleks couldn't charge with her right there. Trying to attack from the side would probably make the Wanderer use it's other hand to get him as well. He only had one choice.
He gulped, taking his machete. Closing his eyes for a second, he threw it. It missed Reina's head by inches, and it hit through the shadow's "face". It disappeared, and Reina's life forces flowed back into her.
"That was close." he murmured, walking over to pick up his blade.

The moment that Reina was released from her death, her body fell to the floor so that she was on holding herself up on her hands and knees. Her eyes were wide as her body trembled from the experience. That was something she never wanted to go through again. It was like she was there but at the same time she wasn't; being ripped from her own body like a band-aid. She didn't even worry about the machete that she couldn't exactly tell was thrown near her head. [color=coral]"Yeah... You're telling me," She rasped as she tried to compose herself again, slowly standing up to her feet before holding herself up on the average hotel office desk that was nearby. "Thanks."

Aleks smiled. "No problem. You'd have done the same thing." he pointed out. "I suppose this is enough exploring for today. We should head back to our home now."
He grasped his machete. "Unless you want to finish the floor."
